Dear IRS...

How is it possible that we don't owe you anything and you don't owe us anything? I think something went wrong here. You are supposed to owe us. You take nearly 15% of everything we make, before we even see it, so shouldn't that mean that you owe us SOMETHING in return? We were glad to hear that we don't owe you, though. Our tax guy said he has never seen this happen before, guess we are special. Gee, it feels so nice to be so special, but maybe next year you can give us a little money back, we've got bills to pay!

Sincerely,
The Shirley Family

Next year you'll have a deduction and you'll get money back, don't worry.

Gwen will make all the difference next year.

I want to know how it is possible that we owe taxes in two states when we hardly make any money at all. At least we'll get a big federal refund to make up for it.

It's really good when you don't owe anything and the government doesn't owe you anything. That happened to me this year too . . . almost. I'll get $27 from the government. Emily overpaid her taxes in California ($600) and she's getting an IOU from California this year. That sucks!
